.strong.
Life has never been a breeze for me, and that was what explains my major transformation over the years. Happy-go-lucky as I seem, I realise I get affected with many matters easily. It will take a good friend to know that, because I am always laughing off insensitive remarks made by people. I prefer to see the positive side of life - I ease the awkward moments by being the subject people used to joke about, rather than me being victimised by being the joke of their conversation. Get what I mean? I try not to see these as insulting, but rather as me being easy-going and capable of making people feel comfortable talking about my hair, my face, errrr (mainly my curly hair seriously.) Of course, if it gets too far, I do get irritated.
But whatever, I am honestly too over-used for being the joke of the day.
Life at Deloitte C. Finance has been extremely hectic so far. Getting involved with what associate directors/ perm staff do really make me feel honoured. Stories about photocopying, being the office boy etc etc.... thank god it didn't happen to me. Instead, these people around me are patient, and are giving me plenty of opportunities to learn. Takeover procedures, industry analysis, sourcing for the right comparable, preparing offer documents to be published in the sgx etc are some interesting stuff which I have learnt. Through this internship, I also realise the great importance of keeping yourself updated, and it has been a daily affair for me right now. I truly appreciate all these that has happened to me, and till now, I am glad that I am still thinking positive despite heading home at 10+/11 every night this week.
Before I left today, my mentor randomly told me :" Gavin ah, go back school, remember to cherish your school life. Come out work already.. haiiiii, very sad life one! " Ha, you have no idea how real / emotional that sounded.
And these days, I have been exploring something which has been troubling me. Reflecting back what happened, I guess this is a real complicated case. Despite that, I am confident that I will see some light, given time. I am willing and interested, but all I need right now is time and opportunity. Everything takes time, isn't it? To be a top banker, you need time. To do well in something, you need time. To understand somebody better, you need time. Of course, all these ain't possible, if not given the opportunity!
Stay strong, and I assure everything will go on fine. I just need to convince myself to be rational, yet understanding over this whole situation. Given all the past setbacks I had over the past, I am sure ... time will tell.
Don't forget the past, and bear in mind there will be a future.
